About Scott

Scott J. Brook has dedicated more than two decades to serving the City of Coral Springs with integrity, experience, and heart. First elected as a City Commissioner in 2002, Scott went on to serve as Mayor from 2006 to 2010 and was elected Mayor again in March 2019 following the sudden passing of his dear friend, Mayor Skip Campbell. He was sworn in for additional terms as Mayor on November 30, 2022, and November 19, 2024, continuing a legacy of trusted local leadership and steady governance.

Throughout his service, Mayor Brook has remained deeply committed to bridging the gap between residents and local government. His leadership is rooted in transparency, accessibility, and collaboration; ensuring that Coral Springs remains a united, forward-thinking community. Under his leadership during his first mayoral term, Coral Springs became the first city in the United States to receive the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a national recognition for excellence in leadership, performance, and innovation.

Mayor Brook’s vision for Coral Springs centers on safe neighborhoods, strong schools, fair taxes, and a thriving local economy. He is committed to keeping city services strong while listening to residents every day to help Coral Springs grow responsibly and sustainably.

Beyond City Hall, Scott serves on numerous boards and committees that strengthen Coral Springs and South Florida region. He is the founder of the Coral Springs Community-Involved Government Committee and serves as Commission Liaison for the Community Ambassador Program, Community Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors, Economic Development Advisory Committee, Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Board of Directors, and the Parent Education Group. He was appointed to the South Florida Regional Planning Council by two Governors and is a Past President of the Florida League of Mayors.

Mayor Brook is also a nationally recognized advocate for mental health awareness. A Telly Award winner and Emmy Award recipient, he received these honors for a powerful and deeply personal message on suicide awareness and prevention, work that reflects his unwavering belief that leadership must be grounded in compassion. He is a founder of the Mental Wellness Networking Alliance and Co-Founder of Project Leadership, continuing to champion initiatives that support the emotional wellbeing of individuals and families throughout the community.

Professionally, Scott brings decades of legal experience to his public service. He earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in 1985, remained there to complete his MBA on a fellowship, and graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in 1992. He is a member of the Florida Bar, and has practiced before the Florida Supreme Court, the First District Court of Appeal, and courts throughout Florida. After serving as a partner at Brodzki Jacobs & Brook, he founded Scott J. Brook, P.A. in 2020, focusing his practice on family law, domestic relations, and estate planning, and always advocating for families with fairness and dignity.
